This is Bucky Barns Darby! Bucky came to us as a 3 month old kid, freshly weened off his momma. He bonded with us quickly and has always been very cuddly, gentle and sweet, despite his intimidating horns. Bucky has sired Millie, Waddles, Oakley, Stormy, Tessie (Tessa), Natasha , Miracle (Sweet Pea), Kevin and Karly. He has shared his beautiful markings with all the goat babies born on the farm. We lost Bucky in November of 2023 and he will be missed greatly.

Get to Know Us

What started as a tiny hobby farm and a big love for animals has bloomed into something really special. Back in the day, we were just rescuing a few dogs, some cats, and chasing chickens around the yard. (Okay, the ducks too.) Then in 2020, during the quiet chaos of COVID, three little Nigerian Dwarf goats came into our lives… and completely stole the show.

Fast forward to today: Darby Farm is now home to 12 fabulous goats—each with their own quirky personality—and a growing crew of furry and feathered friends.

We’ve learned a lot along the way (goats are smarter than they look—trust us). Our mission? To give animals a safe, happy place to call home, and to share the joy they bring with our community.

Our Mission

To create a loving, safe space for our rescue animals and to build meaningful connections between humans and animals. Through education, kindness, and hands-on experiences, we’re working to make our little corner of the world a brighter place—one goat cuddle at a time.

Farm Animal Boarding Services

What does Farm Animal Boarding Services look like?

We are a full working farm that is setup to provide temporary care and housing for farm animals when their owners are unable to do so. These services are similar in concept to pet boarding or kennels, but we cater specifically to livestock and other farm animals, such as:

Horses/Donkeys
Cows
Goats
Sheep
Pigs
Chickens/Turkeys
Ducks

Services Offered Typically Included:

Feeding and watering
Shelter or pasture space
Routine care (basic health checks)
Exercise and turnout
Special medical or dietary needs
Birthing or breeding support (if applicable)
Bottle feeding and special dietary care

Who Uses Farm Animal Boarding?

Hobby farmers or homesteaders going on vacation
People moving or temporarily unable to care for animals
Animal rescue organizations looking for temporary farm animal residence
Livestock show or competition participants needing temporary boarding

What We’ve Got Planned For You

Farm Day
2025

Our first farm day was in December of 2023. It was a fun filled day with a lot of wonderful experiences. Because of the size of our farm we've limited guests to those that are already familiar with the farm. We can't wait for our next farm day to arrive.

2024 had other plans for us. Because of the multiple storms that caused damage and cleanup we were unable to open up the farm for a Farm Day in 2024. We are hoping 2025 will allow us to open up the farm to our friends and family. Stay tuned.

Our Farm Friends

Our farm animals have all come to use as rescues or born on the farm.

Each has a story. Who's your favorite Darby Farm friend?

Our Farm Dog

This is Bubba! Our little Bubba is a 6 yr old black lab mix that has had a lot of health concerns over the years. In 2022 he had to have one of his eyes removed. Even though Bubba can't see well, his favorite thing to do is go for Golf Cart rides. Bubba loves farm visitors and he especially loves to spend time with his farm friends.

Our Livestock Guardian

Say hello to Petey! Petey came to Darby Farm in December of 2022. Petey has a lot of personality. He will greet you with a proper loud bray (heeeeee haaaaaw) and he will expect you to give him a treat (he loves carrots and apples). He has bonded with our male goats and it is clear to us that he looks after the herd. Petey is halter trained and we can take him anywhere we want on the farm. We are hopeful that one day he will let us ride him. The saddle sits waiting for that day to come. He truly has fulfilled his role of the Guardian of the Darby Farm.

Our Miracle

Our Miracle, a.k.a. Sweet Pea, is Darby Farm's official mascot. Miracle was born March 31st of 2023 and was the first of Billie Momma's 3 kids. She is named Miracle because it is a miracle that she is alive. She would not be alive today without the help of our loving and caring vet, Dr. Taylor at Three Oaks Veterinary, and the life saving round the clock care from us Darby's. Because of her medical condition and the lack of time to connect with her momma she became a bottle fed baby. She's grown big and strong and now thinks she's half goat and half domesticated dog/cat. She spends rainy days, hot days and any day or time she wants to cuddle inside the house. She follows us all around the farm and seems happier with her human parents. She loves to go for rides in the truck and she has made appearances all around Brooksville. Keep your eye out for her.

Our Sweetest Goat

This is our Cowboy! Cowboy was one of the original 3 rescued goats that came to live on Darby Farm. He is the tallest of all our goats and he has the most gentle disposition. He has always looked after the smaller goats and babies. Teaching them how to play and being so gentle with them as he does. Cowboy spends most of his time with Petey and Bucky and the 3 of them are best friends.

Our First Born' Kid'

This is Millie! Millie is our first born kid on Darby Farm. She was our first little goat baby born on the farm and we fell in love with everything about her. Millie looks after all her younger siblings and is the best big sister. She has her daddy's beautiful tri-color markings and she LOVES to run around the yard when everyone gets purposely let out of the goat pen. She kicks up her hind legs and shows us how much she loves to be out to run.

What's a WATTLE?

This is Waddles/Wattles! Waddles is one of Billie's babies. He is our little nibbler and probably should have been named Mr. Nibbles. Keep an eye on your shirt, pants or anything he can try and taste. Waddles got his name because he has a goat characteristic that not all goats have. The little hanging toughs of hair on their neck are called 'wattles' and he was the only goat baby born in 2022 that had them. He's a sweet boy and one of the friendliest goats that live here. Just letting everyone know now... he WILL jump on you.

Our Three Oaks Namesake

This is our boy Oakley. Oakley is Billie's other boy that was born in 2022. He's Waddles' brother and best friend. He got his name from the veterinarian's office that saved him, his brother and his momma, Billie, during their scary birthing. We were so grateful to Dr. Lauren Taylor at Three Oaks that we named him after them. Oakley tends to be a little fearless and mischievous and that personality trait has gotten him (and his brother) in trouble a time or two. He also is very lovey and enjoys treats and petting time with farm visitors.

Miracle's Siblings

This is Kevin and Karly! Miracle's siblings and Billie's other two kids born in 2023. Kevin was the biggest goat born and came out right after Miracle. He had the silliest floppy ears that he has finally grown into. His goofy personality matched his goofy physique. Kevin gets his name from a close human friend of the Darby's. Human Kevin said "if you have a big boy goat baby then you better name him Kevin". He was the ONLY boy (and he was VERY big) so he was destined to be called Kevin. We notice the goat Kevin and the human Kevin have much in common. His little side-kick sister Karly is a spit fire. This little girl was doing parkour (jumping off of the fencing and doing twisting flips) since the day she was born. Karly gets her name from two Darby Farm fave humans that were there the day they were born (Carla and Karri). Kevin is always very protective of his little sis and they're inseparable.

Stormy Weather

This is our girl Stormy (a.k.a. Storm)! You can't help but look at the lightening bolt on her side. She also has one on her right leg. This little girl has the most distinct markings on her. She is Momma's first that was born in 2023. She's big sister to 2 other girls and she's one of the most outgoing. She's very personable and always has time to come close for pets. Fun fact: Like her mother and half brother Waddles, she also has the 'wattle' characteristic as do her 2 little sisters.

Tesoro!

This is Tessie! Her name is taken from the Italian word 'Tesoro' which translates to sweetheart in English. If you take a close look at her right side you can see a an upside down heart. Tessie (a.k.a. Tess, Tessa) is not as outgoing as her big sister Stormy but she does love the pets. She will stand still for as long as you want to keep the petting going. If you stop she's off and running. You can tell Tessie, Stormy and Natasha are all sisters as they all match and they all have 'wattles'!
